Stacey Lynn Pryor Dawson is a native of Houston, Texas.  She is a graduate of  Booker T. Washington High School.  She began her post-secondary education at Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas.  She later transferred to Texas Southern University to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree  in Social Work. She began her professional career with the Texas Health and Human Service Agency as a caseworker.  After gaining several years of experience in the workplace, she completed a Master of Art degree in General Counseling from Prairie View A&M University.  First Lady Dawson  has worked in various capacities within social service agencies for the state of Texas. She is currently serving as a Transition Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Her greatest passion is working with the aged and disabled population. She also has a heart for children who often gravitate to her due to her warm spirit.  She loves working behind the scenes. She is an encourager to her husband and members of the church.  Although she has a quiet spirit, she loves listening and communicating with anyone who approaches her.  Her favorite passage in the Bible is Psalms 34. The song she lives by is “Is My Living In Vain”.
